Manchester United Fans Believe Casemiro Should Be the Next Captain of Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes was consistently trusted by coach Erik ten Hag this season, getting the captain’s armband in the absence of Harry Maguire.

However, Fernandes came in for criticism after captaining Manchester United to a 7-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.

A new fan poll reveals that the Red Devils fans prefer Brazilian midfielder Casemiro to Fernandes as the club’s next permanent captain.

The former Real Madrid superstar joined United in a big-money deal from Real Madrid back in August 2022, but quickly left a special mark.

Casemiro’s qualities and experience helped United’s midfield become more solid, allowing teammates to deploy the ball more faster.

Casemiro contributed significantly to the team’s turnaround after 27 games in all competitions by scoring 5 goals and 5 goals. He has little trouble capturing the affection of United fans with what has been revealed so far.

According to a survey by MEN, when asked: “Who will captain Manchester United if Harry Maguire leaves?”, the majority of United fans have expressed support for Casemiro.

In specific, up to 7502 votes, or 44.2% of fans, supported the idea of giving Casemiro the captain’s armband. Fernandes ranked second with 35.8%, while goalkeeper David de Gea finished in third place with 10.7%.

Earlier in the season, United suffered crushing losses to Brentford and Manchester City, and it appeared that those failures were the cause of Ten Hag’s improved team.

However, A reality check came with United’s performance against Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield. This was the first time United have lost by seven goals in any competition since over 90 years ago when they lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

United is currently on the 3 place in the Premier League table. They come into Thursday’s Europa League round-of-16 clash with Real Betis.
