VR46 Racing Team Responds to Yamaha Rumours

VR46 Racing Team will switch from Ducati to Yamaha after the 2023 season. However, their resprentative Alessio “Uccio” Salucci has denied about the rumours.

Given that the agreement between Ducati and VR46 Racing runs through the end of the 2024 season, FIM president Jorge Viegas offers his thoughts on such issues and even suggests an early termination of the agreement or a breach of the agreement.

According to Viegas, the VR46 Racing Team will cut the number of Ducatis from eight to six in 2024 and bring back four Yamahas to the MotoGP starting grid.

“I don’t know why Viegas detonated this bomb. It’s strange because we don’t know about it internally.” Salucci told GPOne.

“We signed a three-year contract with Ducati prior to last season, which will expire at the end of the 2024 season. At that point, there is an option for a further two-year extension.

“We will respect the existing contract anyway and then we will first see if and how we can continue together.” Salucci added.

According to Mooney VR46 Racing Team director Salucci, who did throw a ball and admitted that the necessary internal changes will soon be in the pipeline, the priorities are clear in the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, last season and the next two seasons will not change.

“The most important thing for us is to have competitive bikes. There are some internal changes planned. Our MotoGP project is growing and because of this there will be a number of changes within the organisation.” Salucci said.

“Right now we have a lot of internal meetings where Vale is also present. But if we are changes, we will communicate them ourselves when the time is right.” he added.

Ducati is currently the MotoGP machine to beat. Last season, the Borgo Panigale-based company won all three MotoGP world championships: riders, teams, and constructors.

Six Ducati riders made the podium, and three of them each won races. On the other hand, Fabio Quartararo was the only member of the Yamaha family who could persuade. The only person to use a Yamaha to win races and get on the podium was a Frenchman, but he was obviously driving the cart.
