The New Orleans Pelicans confirm Zion Williamson as their best active player who represents a challenging rival against other NBA teams. He spent most of his NBA professional life in an injuried state.
The total number of regular-season NBA games Williamson has missed in his career surpasses the number of games he has actually participated in by 54.
Additionally he missed both postseason series that New Orleans participated in after his 2019 first-round draught selection.
According to The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer the Pelicans seriously plan to trade Williamson this summer because of his prior injuries and concerning personal health practises.
The Pelicans may choose to keep Williamson if the team fails to acquire projected No. 1 overall selection Cooper Flagg as his replacement.
“Early word out of New Orleans is that Dumars wants to evaluate his new situation fully before deciding to outright shop Zion Williamson,” Fischer wrote said.
“That said: Organisational exasperation with Williamson, as you can imagine, is plenty tangible after the former No. 1 overall pick failed for the fourth time in his six NBA seasons to surpass 30 games played.
“As such there is skepticism in some corners of the league that the Pelicans will actually persist with Williamson as their franchise centerpiece.
“Especially if they are fortunate enough to come away with the No. 1 pick in the May draft lottery and the right to select Duke’s Cooper Flagg.” Fischer added.
The Pelicans stand at position four among teams who will compete for the first draught selection in the 2025 Draft event.
The Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards along with the Charlotte Hornets follow the Pelicans in the 2025 Draught lottery order.
The 14% probability exists for teams with worst 2024/25 results to select Flagg in the Draught.
