The Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal released Neymar from his position after the team mutually agreed to end his contract.
Neymar began negotiating transfers with other clubs because his six-month deal at Al Hilal was nearing completion.
“The club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career with Al Hilal and wish the player success in his career.” The Saudi club posted on X.
Due to his multihanded transfer from PSG in August 2023 for 90 million euros Neymar has participated in just seven games for Al-Hilal.
While representing Brazil in October 2023 Neymar sustained a tear of his left knee’s ACL and meniscus which caused his absence from the Copa America summer tournament.
Neymar made his return in October 2024 but a hamstring injury during his second match cost him four to six weeks out.
Reports from Brazilian media indicate Neymar plans to join his initial club Santos after parting ways from Barcelona in 2013.
During 2009 Neymar started his professional journey at Santos until he became known worldwide with the team.
As team captain in 2011 Neymar helped his squad secure a Copa Libertadores victory by scoring a goal in their 2-1 victory over Penarol during the match’s decisive second half.
After 177 matches for the club Neymar scored 107goals before moving to FC Barcelona for 80 million euros.
After joining FC Barcelona together with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez he helped to winning three major titles before his move to PSG in 2017.
The transfer rumours surrounding Neymar have extended to apossibilities that include a future with Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami and a hypothetical move to the Chicago Fire.
Neymar has announced his wish to participate in the 2026 World Cup while making a decision to return to his homeland.
