Manchester United Could Have  £100 Million for Transfers If Cristiano Ronaldo Leaves in the January Transfer Window

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will have £100 million to spend in the January transfer window, but only if the striker Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the club.

According to reports, the £70 million transfer budget is confirmed, but this amount could rise to £100 million if the Portuguese leaves the Old Trafford. That way, the Red Devils would not have to bear Ronaldo’s huge salary around £450,000 a week.

Ronaldo has not given up on the idea of moving to a club that is competing in the Champions League.

Ten Hag is now making strides in his attempts to drive United back into the Champions League but there is still plenty of work to be done in order to achieve a top-four finish.

According to the British newspaper, United have not given up hope of signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, and the Dutch player is in the pipeline for United as the market reopens in January.

Ronaldo has eight games and one goal scored for United so far in 2022/23. It is understood that United has spent around £259 million in the summer market, with emphasis on the signing of Brazilian Antony for around £111 million.

However, the number of moves was in the double digits. The Red Devils earned a fee for Andreas Pereira, Eric Bailly, and Tahith Chong. Other major free agents include Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, and Edinson Cavani.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus striker scored the first UEFA Europa League goal of his career to help Manchester United rebound from an opening loss in the second-tier competition with a 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Ronaldo had been linked with Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP, Napoli and Bayern Munich in recent weeks but nothing materialised.
