Manchester United Confirm Renewal of Diogo Dalot and Three More Players

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag on Saturday has confirmed that the club activated the option to extend the contracts of Diogo Dalot, Fred, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford until 2024.

The four players were about to end their deal with the Red Devils which ended at the end of the current season.

“Yes, I can confirm it. We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction, and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.” Ten Hag said.

“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process. So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions.

“We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.” Ten Hag added.

Rashford has rediscovered his form this season under new boss Ten Hag, playing 20 matches in all competitions and scoring nine goals.

While Dalot, Fred and Shaw have also been heavily involved, each making more than 15 appearances in all competitions.

Goalkeeper David de Gea is also in the final year of his contract and has a similar solution for an extension, but the involved sides have not yet reached an agreement. Ten Hag expressed in October his expectation for the Spaniard to continue playing at Old Trafford.

United is currently fifth in the Premier League with 26 points, eleven behind leader Arsenal.

Next Monday, Erik Ten Hag’s men will host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, in a match on the famous ‘Boxing Day’.

United have won each of their last six games against Forest in all competitions, recording an 8-1 victory in the teams’ most recent meeting in February 1999.
