Ibrahimovic Reacts on Ronaldo Leaving Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reacted on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United exit. The Swedish international does not believe that it will ever be known what really happened between Ronaldo and the club.

Ronaldo and United broke off their relationship on a bitter note, a situation that came about as a result of the player’s controversial interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old striker is currently a free agent and has been a long-time interest of Al Nassr and other Middle East football clubs. The terms of the deal offered to Ronaldo will essentially be worth US$75 million a year.

“His exiting United, I think when things happen, we will never know the true story,” Ibrahimovic said.

“They say what they want to say, he says what he needs to say to protect himself, then you have the coach that says these things to protect himself.

“Then the club says things, not like me, I will tell you how it really happened. But we are all different. Everybody is careful about their image. For me the perfect image is being yourself. The true story we will not know my friend.” Ibrahimovic added.

The Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag recently responded to the Portuguese star’s comments, stating that Ronaldo had never actually told him to his face that he wanted to leave Old Trafford.

“In the summer we had one talk. He came in and said ‘I will tell you in seven days if I want to stay’. He came back and said he did. Until that moment [the interview] I never heard anything [else].” Ten Hag said.

“I like to work with world-class players. I know they can make a difference and help you to achieve your objectives.

“I wanted him to stay from the first moment until now. I did everything to bring him into the team because I value his quality” Ten Hag added.

Ibrahimovic also took the opportunity to talk about the World Championship taking place in Qatar. The former Barcelona superstar did not hide who he wants to lift the trophy at the end of the competition.

“I think it’s already written who’s going to win and you know who I mean. I think Messi is going to lift the trophy already written,” Ibrahimovic said.
