Dennis Schroder Agrees to One-year Contract with Lakers

Dennis Schroder is reportedly has agreed his one-year return with the Los Angeles Lakers. The point guard will have $2.64 million to return to being a franchise player after a season away from California.

The German became a free agent after the 2021/22 campaign ended and had been without a team since the start of the offseason.

The deal reached on Friday was not shocking. That’s because the player expressed his desire to play with LeBron James again in a mid-July social media post. At the time, Schroder responded to the star’s question about whether it was time to play together again.

Last season, he defended the Boston Celtics for 49 games and ended the year with the Houston Rockets, where he was on the court in 15 games. As a result, the point guard recorded 13.5 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 64 games.

However, at the end of the regular season, Schroder  a shoulder injury and did not play the last seven games for the Texan team. So, with his contract with the Rockets over, he went to Europe to play EuroBasket for Germany. In the European tournament, Schroder had great prominence.

Schroder returns to the Lakers after playing the 2020/21 season for the franchise. In his first stint in Los Angeles, the 29-year-old guard averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 61 games.

It’s also good to know how frustrating his first career with the Lakers was. After all, he turned down a four-year contract extension with the Angelina franchise for $84 million.

However, he declined the offer and hoped he could get a higher offer from free agency. But, shedidn’t come. Ultimately, Schroder ended up signing with the Celtics for one year and just $5.9 million.
