The former England striker, Alan Shearer, has predicted that Ruben Amorim will start of the time he takes Manchester United job well and only find success at Old Trafford after adapting.
Amorim has arrived at United after signing from Sporting Lisbon and is awaiting his first match against Ipswich Town this weekend and fans will expect him to begin making United, title contenders again.
Shearer thought it was impossible for United to compete in the last few years and he worries that Amorim will have a tough time succeeding – stating that he might not draw flak in the initial games as United manager.
“Ruben Amorim officially started his new job as Man Utd manager and in an ideal world, he’ll start climbing the Premier League table immediately and clinch a European spot.” Shearer said.
“You never get a free pass when you become the new manager of Manchester United, but you might get away with one or two things because there’s so much to be done at the football club and so much to be changed.
“It may take a little bit of time for Ruben to implement his own ideas and own system on some of the players because they’ll probably try a system that they haven’t played before.” Shearer added.
United have faced a rather a difficult season up to this point due to the sack of Erik ten Hag and the lack of clarity of the current ownership of the club.
Amorim is one of the hottest prospects on the market and the move to bring him into the team would be quite a risky one for United in terms of their struggles to regain the form that has caught everybody by surprise.
Amorim, who joined the camp last week has been with his players this week and has been familiarising with the environment at Carrington.
The Portuguese thinks that United has too many players selected and has been surprised by the low tempo and intensity of the trainings.
