Manchester United Could Sign New Strikers This Summer

Manchester United have been linked with a number of strikers in recent months as it is clear that the club needs a new goalscorer.

The club’s current options have not been consistent enough, and United have struggled to score goals in recent seasons.

There are a number of reasons why Manchester United need a new striker. Firstly, their current options have not been consistent enough.

Dane Rasmus Hojlund, 21, who was signed for 72 million pounds in August, has scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions. Anthony Martial has scored twice this season and has been injured since January.

Secondly, United have struggled to score goals in recent seasons. They have scored 45 goals this season, making them the least prolific team among the top 10 teams in the rankings.

Who could Manchester United sign?

There are a number of strikers that United have been linked with in recent months. These include:

Serhou Guirassy

Guraissy has 26 goals in 23 matches this season and is the reason why Stuttgart are on course for Champions League qualification.

Jonathan David

David is enjoying a fruitful season with Lille, netting 23 goals in 40 matches and is only behind Kylian Mbappe in the Ligue 1 scorers chart. The Canada international doesn’t turn 25 until next January and so is perhaps not yet at his season.

Victor Osimhen

The Napoli striker is only 23 years old and has scored 28 goals in 32 Serie A games this season. He is a powerful and clinical finisher who would be a good fit for United’s style of play.

United manager Ten Hag had ruled out the possibility of signing a striker in the January transfer window, citing Financial Fair Play rules, but have now confirmed their plans for next season.

“I think it would help. We need more options. We need a dual position at each position.” Ten Hag said.

“There are positions where we have had no choice this season – the striker position, the left-back position – and this has had a negative impact on the results.”

“We are working in the background on plans with the recruiters. The plan is ready, but we must execute it.”

“The manager added that he was open to ideas from the club’s new owners, hoping they would work together.” he added.
